As part of International Women's Day, the US Consulate Hyderabad, in association with Hyderabad Film Club, is screening "Nupur", a documentary film by Aparna Malladi, on 8th March at the Prasad Labs Preview Theatre, Road No. 2, Banjara Hills.
Armed with the innocent mischief of a child, Nupur is faced with the temptation to explore the hidden intrigues she is certain her house possesses. Her curiosity proves too much for her fearful mother and Nupur is fitted with a tiny set of belled ankle bracelets to track her whereabouts. At the age of three, Nupur is given a choice. She can either walk the safe and well-trodden path or be lost in a big scary house. With an open heart, however, Nupur finds a way to set herself free.
Nupur brings out the youngster in all of us. Shot with a sense of childhood innocence, the film portrays a tender exchange between generations old and new.
Nupur won several awards including:-
Family Award 2001 at the National Short Film & Video Competition section of the 31st Annual USA Film Festival, Dallas, Texas
