As part of Women's Day, Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad and the Hope Foundation are organizing a session at the Goethe-Zentrum office. There will first be a screening of the 14-minute documentary "Bhavani", which will be followed by a Health Q&A session in Telugu/English with the film's protagonist, documentary director Akna Goud, and an AIDS-Gynaecologist.
"Bhavani" is a 14-minute long film documenting the true story of a young brave girl, Bhavani, who is taking care of her widowed mother affected by AIDS. Directed by Akna Goud, the film is in Telugu with English subtitles.
Bhavani was a contented and happy girl who had everything that would make her a healthy and responsible citizen of tomorrow. Yet, today, she is mainly taking care of her mother, an AIDS patient, thus not being able to dedicate as much time to play, school and other activities that girls her age like to do. However, in spite of her hard reality, Bhavani does not let life defeat her.
The panel discussion with the protagonists of the film and the director, together with experts, is aims to create awareness on health issues. In particular, an AIDS doctor and gynecologist will be present to address queries. The session will be in Telugu and English, so as to make it approachable to the maximum number of people.
