Sangam Academy is presenting a Bharatanatyam recital by Sudha Chandran, on 21st November, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium. The chief guest for the evening is Dadasaheb Phalke and Padma Bhushan Dr. Akkineni Nageshwara Rao. The special guests for the evening are Gnanpeeth Dr. C Narayana Reddy and Dr. Shobha Naidu. On this occasion, Sangam Academy will be presenting Sudha Chandran with the title of Nritya Kalanidhi.
Sudha Chandran is an Indian actress and former classical dancer who turned to acting following the loss of one leg in an accident in 1982. In 1984, a Telugu film Mayuri was made, based on her real life story, in which she plays herself. This film was also remade in Hindi as Naache Mayuri. Both the films were huge successes, and she was awarded the 1986 National Film Award - Special Jury Award for her performance.
Sudha Chandran is known for her avant garde accessories, chunky jewellery and designer bindis. She has acted in several TV serials, popular among which are K Street Pali Hill and Kahin Kissi Roz. Recently, she has also participated in a dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, on Sony TV.
