Sangeetha Ksheera Sagaram and Thyagaraya Gana Sabha are organizing a violin recital, at Kala Subba Rao Kala Vedika on the 9th August, at 6:30pm.
The programme is being conducted in the memory of Uppalapati Ankaiah. The evening features a solo violin recital by Kamal Kiran Vinjamuri (disciple of Kalaimamani Kanya Kumari from Chennai), followed by another solo violin recital by Subhash Vinjamuri, his father. They are being accompanied by Sarva Sri Kapa Srinivasa Rao on the mridangam, Batchu Janardhan on the ghatam, and P Srinivasa Gopalan on the kanjira.
12-year-old Kamal Kiran is a child prodigy, and resides with his parents in Virginia, USA. He has taken part in various competitions held in Hyderabad, and one at Chennai, and has bagged awards. He hails from a musical family of Guntur. His grandfather, Vinjamuri Parthasarathy Iyengar, was a vocalist-violinist, and his father, Subhash, inherited the art and trained his son. Kamal is currently under the tutelage of violinist A Kanyakumari.
Subhash Vinjamuri, Kamal Kiran's father, learned Carnatic music on the violin, from his father Parthasarathi Iyengar, an advocate from Guntur. Later, he did his advanced courses from Madhala Brahmanandam Naidu, and from his uncle, Sangeeta Kalanidhi Varadaraja Iyengar.
