AP Issues Discussed With Centre

Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has dicussed various AP development issues with the Prime Minister and other Union ministers.

Speaking to media persons at the AP Bhavan in New Delhi on Saturday, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said that he had met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union ministers P Chidambaram, M Veerappa Moily, Mamata Banerjee, Pranab Mukherjee, A K Antony and S Jaipal Reddy, and that he had discussed the many issues faced by the state, during his 2-day stay in the capital.

He told the media persons that he had requested the Union ministers concerned to expedite the pending issues, and to grant funds for developmental schemes.

During the meeting with the PM, the Chief Minister requested for the inclusion of 7 districts on the inter-state borders, under the Special Development Plan for areas affected by Left-wing extremism. He requested that an additional amount of Rs. 6,000 crore be released under NCCF, to enable the state government to take up relief rehabilitation and restoration works on a war footing.

He said that he had also requested for an amount of Rs. 207.33 crore from the NCCF as reimbursement for employment generation in the wake of the severe drought and the unprecedented floods of September-October, 2009.

Since the Polavaram project has been cleared by the technical advisory committee, and the expenditure and finance committee is examining its outlay of Rs. 16,010 crore at present, he asked the Prime Minister to expedite the clearance. He also requested for the declaration of the Indirasagar Polavaram Project as a national project.

He requested the PM to consider the Dr. B R Ambedkar Pranahita-Chevella Sujala Sravanthi Project for inclusion in the list of national projects.

He also asked the PM to give a convenient date to meet an all-party delegation on the categorization of SCs.

The CM has asked Chidambaram to approve the proposal of the state government to organize a single local cadre with respect to the newly-created cadres of teachers in government, Zilla Parishad and Mandal Parishad schools under the Presidential Order 1975.

KKR said that he requested the Union Minister For Law And Justice M Veerappa Moily to omit clause (F) of paragraph 14 from the Andhra Pradesh Public Employment Order 1975, which deals with the organization of local cadres and the regulation of direct recruitment.

KKR stated that the main purpose of his visit to Delhi was to meet the Union Minister For Railways Mamata Banerjee and the MPs to request the inclusion of certain new trains and extensions in the Railway Budget 2011-12, and for the sanction of 19 new trains and extensions, 10 inter-city train services, new projects like Nadikudi-Kalahasti which was cleared by the Railway Board and is now being inspected by the Planning Commission, the doubling and electrification of the Vijayawada-Gudivada-Machilipatnam-Bhimavaram-Narasapur-Nidadavolu route, and the speeding up the clearance from the cabinet, which was cleared by the Planning Commission and the Railway Board for MMTS Phase-II for Hyderabad.

He expressed his gratitude for the sanction of the wagon manufacturing facility, that was announced in 2010-11 and was cleared by the Railway Ministry with an outlay of Rs. 152 crore, which is expected to create employment. He also requested the railway minister for the release of adequate funds for 12 ongoing railway projects

Kiran Kumar Reddy said that in the meeting with Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, he had demanded that NABARD, which is operating the financial inclusion technology fund, be given directions to support at least a part of the initial capital costs incurred by AP's banks, and requested for interest subvention for the rescheduled crop loans.

Kiran Kumar Reddy requested for the release of Rs. 1,626 crore towards debt waiver.

During his meeting with Jaipal Reddy, the Chief Minister requested the Union minister for the allocation of gas for the 2,100 MW power plant that is coming up at Nedunur village in Karimnagar. Kiran Kumar Reddy revealed that the Union minister had agreed to allocate the remaining 25% of gas allocation to the 12 ongoing projects in the state.
