Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal said that notifications for by-elections in Kadapa and Pulivendula will be issued within 6 months from 8th December, 2010.
The by-elections for the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat and the Pulivendula Assembly constituency will be held as scheduled, says Bhanwar Lal.
Talking to media persons at the state Secretariat on Friday, Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal said that the by-elections have been necessitated following the resignations of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy from the Lok Sabha Parliamentary constituency, and the resignation of Y S Vijayalakshmi from the Pulivendula Assembly constituency on 8th December, 2010.
Bhanwar Lal said that the election commission would issue notifications for the by-election polling process within 6 months from December 8th.
The CEO also informed that 6 ballot papers were stolen by a scrap dealer in Vijayawada. He said that 25 EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) were stolen, and that the District Collector had been issued notice.
Bhanwar Lal revealed that the District Collector had inspected the godowns stocking the EVMs on the orders of the election commission.
